A feeling that all was for once right in the world While you were here, Yet leaving a hole in my chest As wide as the miles that separate us. How can love be so painful, Yet so impossible to give up? Knowing the selfless thing would be Letting you go without a fight. But when the very thought, The moment before saying those words came Such sorrow and agony filled my soul That I could do nothing Except remain silent and hold on to hope However fragile it may be. Is it strong or stupid This waiting for you to figure out your heart? I?m sure I don?t know Just as I don?t know If waiting is passing a test or failing For I?m in the middle of the journey Rather than the end. All I know is that while it can bring pain This love I feel has also brought extreme joy And the memory of your smile, Your eyes, and your touch Are things I can?t help but pray I will have again and forever.
